Library News
Keep up to date with what's going on in the library. Read about new books,
websites and databases. Find out about exhibits, changes in services and even
some AECOM history. Each month the library publishes a newsletter, where you
can find short feature articles plus our monthly schedule of classes, holiday
hours, and contact information.
As of November 2006, Library News can be found online.
- August 2006 announces enhancements to Web of Science, introduces new online resources for cultural competence and research protocols, highlights STAT!Ref, and updates readers on the Library's renovation.

- June 2006 profiles the library's upcoming renovation; introduces several online resources, including Web of Science, UpToDate, and a funding directory for global health; and highlights the commencement exhibit.

- April 2006 features an article on podcasts, gives some tips for searching our new catalog, and provides some updates on online resources.

- January 2006 introduces AskRefLIVE, the Reference Department's new live chat service, presents ISI's Journal Citation Reports online, and highlights several Web sites, including ArticleFinder (now available for free), Global Health Facts, and MASSIVE, a database of science and math songs.

- December 2005 highlights new features available in PsycBOOKS and PsycINFO, and demonstrates how to use AccessMedicine's advanced features. On a lighter note, the newsletter also notes a useful Web resource for bypassing computerized phone answering systems.

- November 2005 notes new online resources,
including flu and public health web sites, and the addition of ACP's PIER:
the Physicians' Information and Education Resource, and the Guide to
Culturally Competent Health Care to the library's online collection.

- September 2005 discusses the library's
recent training room upgrade and the Reference Department's participation
in the Summer Undergraduate Mentorship Program for minority students, run
by the Hispanic Center of Excellence (HCOE).

- July 2005 includes online reference
tools to help with research, including those from the National Library of
Medicine (NLM) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, as well
as an online public health tutorial from the National Network of Libraries
of Medicine.

- June 2005 features a new look for
the library newsletter. The issue includes material on new journal and e-book
subscriptions, the library's receival of a grant to help improve remote access,
and our commencement exhibit.

- May 2005 highlights new Internet health
resources of interest to the AECOM community, lists additional library subscriptions
in Wiley's Current Protocol series, and summarizes recent library teleconference
training sessions.

- March 2005 lists new PDA and EBM
resources, a subscription to PsycBOOKS, a training room renovation update,
and some statistics about the library's web site.

- February 2005 discusses the National
Institutes of Health's (NIH) final public access policy, new library e-journals,
and a newly-created library copyright web page.

- January 2005 gives some statistics
on off-campus use of the library's e-resources, and provides web sites for
organizations helping in tsunami disaster relief.

- November-December 2004 introduces
a new librarian, databases for state health data and clinical tools, as well
as a holiday recipe.

- October 2004 features Clinical Evidence,
Hispanic Heritage exhibit, National Medical Library Month and our new PDA
"sync" station.

in the Open Access e-journal publishing initiative, and free database demos
and trials (including FirstConsult and PsycINFO).

and bids farewell to archivist Norma Nelson who retired this summer.

online, and new web browser requirements for Ovid users.
